The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is a global leader in the fight against blood cancers, dedicated to funding groundbreaking research and providing critical support to patients and their families. Through innovative therapies, patient education, and advocacy efforts, LLS works tirelessly to accelerate the development of new treatments and improve the lives of those affected by leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers. Their mission is to create a world without blood cancers by driving progress in research, care, and policy.

The DeGroote Family's Story

At Lumina, we are honored to be part of the DeGroote family’s journey. Ellie DeGroote, a local hero from Annapolis, has been deeply involved in the fight against blood cancer after her mother, Krista, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Krista’s brave battle, which included months of grueling treatments, culminated in her ringing the bell to mark the end of chemotherapy, and today, she celebrates five years of health. This personal connection to the cause drives our passion to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in their mission to create a world without blood cancers.

Through Ellie’s participation in the Visionaries of the Year campaign, we stand together with the DeGroote family, helping raise awareness, funds, and support for blood cancer patients everywhere. Together, we are helping fuel groundbreaking research, providing vital resources for patients and their families, and advocating for change.
