Lumina Solar Participates in Charity Golf Tournament Hosted by Ray Lewis’ Power52 Foundation

At Lumina Solar, building strong ties to our community is a value universally held by our entire team. We’re always seeking out programs that leave a lasting mark and improve the lives of those they operate in. On September 19th, several team members from Lumina Solar had the pleasure of participating in a charity tournament hosted by the Power52 Foundation. This organization was founded by NFL legend Ray Lewis, as well as real estate and green energy experts Cherie Brooks and Rob Wallace. Power52 works to provide at-risk individuals with job training in the clean energy industry, as well as providing disadvantaged areas with access to community solar.

About The Event

The inaugural LIVE! On the Green was held at Waverly Woods Golf Club in Marriottsville. All proceeds from the event went towards Power52 to help further its mission of making an impact in Maryland’s disadvantaged communities.

About the Power52 Foundation

Following 2015’s unrest in Baltimore, the co-founders of the Power52 Foundation wanted to create a path forward for at-risk individuals in disadvantaged and impoverished areas across Maryland. The Power52 foundation “that educational equity and clean energy access is crucial for economic development and empowerment.” To accomplish this goal, they provide career training to at-risk individuals to gain skills that allow them to excel at careers within the green energy industry. Additionally, they help provide disinvested areas with energy independence, cleaner environments, and more affordability through community solar projects. These programs go beyond simple job training; they much needed mentorship. As Ray Lewis stated at the LIVE! On the Green event,

“You know, a bunch of these kids get caught up early in gang life, thinking that they don’t have another option. Well, Power 52, we are your option, right? And, we’re not just an option for solar. We are an option for big brothers and big sisters, and people who are going to be there through it all with you.”

Lumina’s Involvement

The Lumina team was proud to participate in the charity event. In addition, we are thoroughly committed to helping build a path forward to career opportunities for individuals Power52 works with. We strongly believe in uplifting communities through education and opportunity. The options that Power52 creates are an excellent option to help reduce poverty while helping divert clean energy independence to areas where it will have the most impact.

Lumina is proud to provide our own community solar program. If you’d like to learn more, reach out to our team today. Please consider supporting the work the Power52 Foundation is doing across Maryland.
